Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing the Maker Educator Certificate Program, participants will:

  • Understand the core values and principles of Making
  • Learn pedagogical practices for empowering learners to explore Making and a Maker mindset in a learning environment
  • Design an action plan for implementing Maker activities in a learning environment
  • Begin to consider ways to integrate Making in the classroom
  • Begin to align Maker projects with CCSS and NGSS
  • Become part of a Maker network
  • Receive mentorship from local Maker educators, including SSU faculty and K-12 maker teachers

Course Offerings Fall 2024

Maker Professional Development

The Maker Professional Development online course supports educators with networking with local makers in their community and finalizing their Maker Design Project. Students are required for 10 hours or more to attend and/or volunteer at local or online maker events and activities while they work with an advisor to complete their Maker Design Project.

Prerequisites: Successful Completion of Introduction to Making & Making for Educators.

Note: This current course is open to those who have completed Intro to Making ONLY. A new cohort/ Intro to Making will begin Spring 2025.

Course begins Saturday, December 7.

Course Fee: $325
Duration: 4 Weeks, 12/7/24- 1/27/25 (12/9/24 is the only online synchronous meeting- estimated to meet from 9am-1pm)
