Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. -John Dewey
Welcome to Extended Education at Sonoma State University!
Extended Education’s mission is to connect the community with opportunities for lifelong learning that is tailored to meet the needs of today’s students, from elementary school all the way through retirement, from traditional to non-traditional student populations. We provide opportunities to extend your formal education through winter and summer intersession courses for current and new SSU students, as well as faculty-led study abroad and Semester-at-Sonoma student exchange. We host unique degree programs such as the AACSB-accredited Executive MBA in Wine Business, which allows students to earn an executive-level MBA degree in 18 months.
We take great satisfaction in crafting educational opportunities that promote both career development and personal enrichment. Our courses are conveniently scheduled on weekends, evenings, and online to accommodate your busy schedules.
Our suite of professional development programs and certificates is designed to advance career-readiness, job knowledge, and skills in today’s growing job markets, including the fields of non-profit management, human resources, construction management, and wine business.
Our lifelong learning programs serve community members from 9 to 90 years of age, from our EXCEL camps in the summer and our year-round programming in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). These programs reach students across the community and provide ways to engage with campus (virtually or in-person!) throughout all phases of life.
We hope you will join us in “extending” our goal to serve the community of SSU throughout the North Bay and beyond!
Sincerely,
Dr. Natalie Williams-Munger
